Its background includes research on a wide range of issues related to social stratification, labour markets, income distribution, consumption and lifestyle patterns and attitudes. TÁRKI has been involved in many international projects, helping to inform better social policies through its evidence-based research.

Tarki’s Role in the Project

TÁRKI Social Research Institute is leading the activities aimed at mapping trends in inequalities in educational achievement across Europe. This work, coordinated by TÁRKI and involving the Oslo Metropolitan Universitythe National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Jagiellonian University, includes the re-analysis of existing data from major international educational assessment studies following education reforms, such as ICCS, PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS. In this scope, TÁRKI is responsible for developing an analytical framework of inequality in education using an intersectional approach and building databases to study how different factors intersect and contribute to inequalities among students who have faced multiple disadvantages. This work provides an overview of key indicators and their impact on inequalities in 29 European countries. The overview is being used to create an interactive map depicting significant factors of trends in policies and inequalities in education and a digital toolbox to help policymakers develop informed strategies to reduce educational inequalities and promote equity and inclusion across European education systems.
