STRIDE Focus Series: Development, Implementation and Timeline Stages from the Roehampton Team

The Roehampton Team, including Professor Bryony Hoskins, postdoctoral research associate Khuyen Dinh, and research assistant Sofia Ferrer, is currently developing and implementing key strategies for the completion of various components of the STRIDE Project. Our team leads one of the main areas of the project focused on evaluating how early childhood education policies can reduce inequalities using longitudinal data. As leaders of this project, we are working on finding a shared approach to analyze longitudinal data, given that the STRIDE consortium consists of various European countries with differing data availability and education systems. We have provided initial guidelines to our European partners and will finalize our methods and approaches at the upcoming STRIDE conference in Athens, Greece, in October. During the conference, our partners will present their data and methods for this work, helping us determine the best way to move forward with the project.

Our team is also co-leading another area of the project that involves a detailed review of how early childhood education policies in Europe over the past 25 years have addressed inequalities in education. This will be completed by reviewing the previous literature on this topic that has used panel studies. As we are in the initial stages of this report, we are currently developing search terms and keywords for the review, which will help us gather the most relevant and valuable information for the study. In the following months, we will finalize our selection of studies and analyze around 30 panel studies for the review.
