A Comprehensive Review of Educational Reforms
The STRIDE project is dedicated to exploring and analysing policies that address educational inequalities across Europe. One of the key outputs of this initiative is a comprehensive policy report that surveys educational reforms aimed at mitigating inequality in all EU countries, the UK, and Norway from 1999 to 2024. This report provides valuable insights into the measures taken to promote equity and
inclusion in education systems across these regions.
The policy report covers a wide range of educational reforms implemented over the past 25 years. By focusing on all EU countries, the UK, and Norway, the report offers a broad perspective on how different nations have approached the challenge of educational inequality. The reforms surveyed in the report span various ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) levels, ensuring a comprehensive analysis of the entire education system.
One of the key aspects of the report is its focus on the target groups of the reforms. By identifying which groups have been prioritized in these policies, the report sheds light on the specific needs and challenges faced by different segments of the population. The measures taken to address educational inequality are also thoroughly examined, providing a detailed overview of the strategies employed by various countries.
Researchers at Jagiellonian University in Poland is leading the work on the policy report together with researchers at VIA University College in Denmark. The Polish team are currently analysing relevant reforms from Eastern and Southern European countries and while the Danish team is analysing reforms from the Scandinavian and Western European countries. Based on these individual country case analyses, each team will provide important comparative insights that will form part of the combined comprehensive policy report on all European countries.
The STRIDE policy report is a crucial step toward understanding and addressing educational inequalities across Europe. By providing a comprehensive analysis of past and present reforms, the report offers a roadmap for developing more effective and inclusive policies in the future. Through its rigorous research and innovative methodologies, the STRIDE project contributes to the broader goal of building inclusive education systems that leave no student behind.
The findings from the policy report will be synthesized into practical resources for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders across Europe. These resources, including an interactive map and a policy toolbox, will serve as valuable tools for driving progress toward more equitable and inclusive education systems.
