From the 5th to the 7th of March, STRIDE participated in the Nordic Educational Research Association (NERA) Conference 2025 held in Helsinki, Finland. The theme for this year’s conference, “Pedagogy of Hope: Gratitude, Diversity, and Sustainability in Education,” is important in contemporary educational research. During the conference, our STRIDE colleagues Maria Symeonaki, G. Filandrianos, Dimitris Parsanoglou, and Alexandros Sakellariou had the opportunity to present a poster introducing the innovative and interactive map being developed as part of STRIDE. This map is designed to explore and visualise factors influencing educational policy development and student performance, with a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and resilience. By integrating comprehensive datasets and policy information, it will serve as a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and educational stakeholders. The map aims to help them understand the complex relationships between educational reforms and student outcomes while providing access to a wide range of relevant indicators.
A section of the poster was dedicated to showcasing the map’s indicator interface, which utilised mean mathematics test scores for female and male students based on the TIMSS 2019 dataset. The data was further broken down by parental education level, specifically distinguishing between students with at least one parent who completed tertiary education and those without. Additionally, the policy reforms interface was presented.
Overall, the map aims to empower stakeholders to conduct in-depth policy impact analyses, identify effective practices, and contribute to the development of resilient educational reforms aligned with sustainable development goals
The NERA Conference 2025 provided an excellent platform for STRIDE to share its innovative work and engage with the broader educational research community. The insights gained and connections made during the conference will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of STRIDE’s project, furthering our commitment to fostering inclusion, equity and intersectionality in education.
